Literally.
First generation Mexican-American of immigrant parents and siblings. I am eternally grateful for the life my parents gave me. They didn’t cross for a better life, but a different one. My parents gave me the privilege to experience the culture in LA while also in Mexico.
As long as I can remember, my parents have worked endless days, but they were always grateful and proud to be business owners. Since before I could walk, my parents have owned a small business operating at swap meets. That’s where I learned my love for business. I started working with them in fourth grade (translating, making sales, customer service, etc) and it was the greatest lesson and blessing of my life. The swap meet is where I learned everything I know now.
Hard work = success. That’s propaganda I won’t be falling for.
I have always heard “working hard brings success” but the truth is, that cannot be further from the truth. My parents have worked hard their entire lives just to barely make ends meet. No breaks, days or holidays off. And they’re not the only ones. It’s a common occurrence in our community. It’s unfortunate seeing so many smart, excellent, hardworking people not be able to succeed in their craft due to the injustice in the system. My goal for this business is to not only help my family, but to help my community. I want to open doors for those that need it. I will be the voices of those that can’t speak up.
You have the right to take up space on this floating rock.
